Limitless God : a devotional

In the Gospel of Luke, we witness a profound moment of compassion as Jesus approaches a grieving widow in the town of Nain. A large crowd from the village followed him, and when he saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry,” he said, and walked over to the coffin. With authority, he commanded the young man, “I tell you, get up!” To the amazement of all, the dead boy sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. This miraculous event not only highlights Jesus’ compassion but also serves as a reminder of the limitless power of God.

Today, I encourage you to stop limiting the limitless. The Latin phrase "Carpe Diem," famously attributed to the poet Horace, urges us to seize the day and enjoy life while we can. While this phrase resonates with us, the essence of living fully can also be found in Scripture. Ephesians 5:15-16 instructs us to be very careful about how we live, not as unwise but as wise, taking full advantage of every day for His purposes.

As believers, we are called to recognize and embrace the wonder of our God. He is not confined by our expectations or understanding. We often place limitations on ourselves and our faith, forgetting that God is infinitely greater than our imaginations can conceive. Psalm 147:4-5 reminds us, “He counts the stars and names each one. Our Lord is great, with limitless strength; we will never comprehend what he knows and does.”

This truth is liberating. When we grasp the extent of God’s power and creativity, we can approach each day with awe and anticipation. Let us count the stars—not just in the night sky, but in the myriad ways God is at work in our lives.

Today, consider how you might seize the wonder of God’s limitless nature. Are there areas in your life where you’ve placed constraints on what God can do? Reflect on the story of the widow’s son and allow it to inspire you to trust in the boundless possibilities that lie ahead.

As we navigate through challenging times, let us remember: our God is great, and His strength knows no bounds. Embrace each day as an opportunity to experience the fullness of His grace and power.
