CDM BLOG: "Intentional Relationships" October 2016

INSPIRATIONAL THOUGHTS:

Pat and I spent the weekend visiting friends who at one time lived in the DC Metropolitan area. Our friends are almost the age of our own children and are a remarkable God-fearing couple who have four adorable sons ranging from 11 years of age to 7 months.

As we drove the couple hours to see them, God stirred on both our hearts to pray and be purposeful in our visit. He not only wanted us to enjoy this time to connect, He wanted the connection to be more purposeful and intentional. We sensed God laying on our hearts words of encouragement and affirmation to share. We had a desire to believe that our conversation would be helpful and a blessing. (See Ephesians 5:29)

It was a wonderful 24 hours. The time went quickly and there was a connection that grew deeper with each passing hour. As we wrapped up our visit by praying together, we left feeling joyful and thankful for the enriched conversations we shared.

As we were driving back home, God challenged me to be more purposeful in all my connections with others. He awakened a desire to believe that when I speak, my words would be full of wisdom and to let kindness be the rule of everything I say. (See Proverbs 31:26)

He reminded me of Ephesians 5:15-17 that says, “So be careful how you act; these are difficult days. Don’t be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to.”

I am looking forward to being much more intentional in my connections with others. I am believing for my words to be beneficial and fitting to the need and occasion so the time spent then will be purposeful, without forcing the issue, yet full of blessings and encouragement. I am determined to really love others and show it through both my words and actions. (See 1 John 3:18)

As we look towards the Holiday season, give the gift of an intentional connection. Allow friendships to deepen and encouraging words to flow.

Blessings,

Cindy
